"No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light." Luke 8:16

Letting Go

We withhold forgiveness
To those we feel who don’t deserve

To give something so precious
Our crushed spirits hold back

Why give to someone who has taken away so much?

Yet it kills us like a disease
Eating us from the inside out

Hardened hearts build up walls
Our pride encapsulates us

We wonder why there is a barrier to true happiness.

Yet there is freedom.
His name is Jesus.

He softens hearts and opens eyes.
He asks to carry our burdens.

Can we learn to freely give, what has already been freely given to us?

There is freedom in forgiveness.
Freedom in letting go

What we thought was impossible to do
Is possible through Christ

Take His yoke upon you and you will find rest for your souls

Most of us think that forgiveness is something we give to others, but more so, forgiveness is something we give to ourselves. Bitterness, resentment and anger weighs us down. Not only does unforgiveness break us down internally but physically as well. It is its own all consuming disease. But when we learn to let go we experience freedom from chains that hold us back in more ways than we probably fail to recognize. If you can't do it for others, at least forgive for yourself.
